For driven high school/undergraduate students, SkoolMentor is offering a unique 8week opportunity to conduct remote research in translational cancer research with a research scientist affiliated with a startup scientific consulting company. The Mentor has extensive research experience in cancer biology, translational research, and precision medicine research.

The topic of research could be studying and understanding the progression of oral cancer and associated risk factors during the oncogenic process. They include different proteins and associating genes. These alterations can be correlated to the patients and their survival data and can be used as a predicting oral cancer biomarker and effective drug targets for treatment procedures. Students will develop an understanding of various risk factors of oral cancer and their initiation, promotion, and progression. Various signaling pathways like DNA Repair and Replication, tyrosine kinase signaling pathways etc. alters during the carcinogenic progressions.

The researcher has served as a mentor for high school and undergraduate students at various open day program by university and Institute as well as scientific annual meetings. The mentor can assist students to create a poster/presentation to be presented at science fairs and scientific conferences.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who are curious, driven, want to contribute to patient-oriented research and wish to learn cutting-edge web-based tools in cancer research.

Opportunities such as these are also a great way for students to showcase the passion for STEM and stand out in college applications.
